In the summer of 1941, the German army and its allied forced invaded the Soviet Union, which is known as “Operation Barbarossa.” The military act is connected to the next meaningful stage in which the Nazi regime defined the solution to the “Jewish problem.” Over 80 years have passed and the historical research, cinema, literature and other venues have continued to focus on this dark period in history.
This series will include lectures that present both new interpretations of historical events that have been researched in the past, as well as new research that has come to light. During the four programs, we will meet historians, archeologists, writers and educators from Israel, America, Germany, England and South Africa. Each one of the participants will present a unique perspective on this dark period in history and will help us to rethink the term “Final Solution.”
The first program “The Wannsee Conference: 90 Minutes of Bureaucratic Evil” will take place on Sunday, January 16th with guest speaker Dr. Matthias Hass from the House of Wannsee Conference Memorial Site and Education Center.
