Foreign/Editors

The HDEC is in need of Foreign/Editors. Even though most interviewees speak in English, an interviewee often uses words and expressions in their native language. To date, there are over twenty different languages referenced in our Oral History Collection. The foreign/editor listens and reads the interview to make sure that the foreign language words are spelled correctly, translated and used correctly in the context of the sentence.  Languages represented include: German, Polish, Hungarian, French, Czech, Dutch, Yiddish, Spanish, Russian and more.

The HDEC has many reference books, guides, dictionaries and a laptop for our volunteers to research names, places, dates and everything Holocaust related.
