Dear Editor:
Twenty years ago, when I was producing an exhibit for the Jewish Museum of Florida titled The Art of Hatred: Images of Intolerance in Florida Culture, I learned from scholars how to spell antisemitism, which is defined as Jew-hatred. I have used this spelling because the explanation was rational to me – because there is no such thing as Semitism to be anti. There are only Semitic languages, like Hebrew and Arabic. Especially now, as antisemitism has risen globally by 18 percent in the past year, I am on a “campaign to correct.”
