In All the Horrors of War, Bernice Lerner tells the story of her mother, Rachel Genuth, whose experiences include being deported from the Hungarian provinces with her family to Auschwitz, a labor camp, and being forced into a march through the Sudetenland. Her story collides with Hugh Llewelyn Glyn Hughes, a doctor in the British Second Army. Using various sources including war diaries, oral histories, Hughes’s papers, and interviews, Bernice Lerner describes the suffering of Nazi victims while highlighting their strength through the darkest times.
