David Matlow, who many of you may recall, presented “Theodor Herzl: Coming Home, Staying Home“ has recently put his book “Collecting the Dream” up on Kindle, and it is available as a free download today, August 31.
David Matlow has assembled the world’s largest private collection of Herzl memorabilia; in this book he showcases the most special items in his collection and introduces us to the people who helped him put it together.
Theodor Herzl was the visionary of the State of Israel who famously said “if you will it, it is not a dream.” Through this volume, David hopes you will be inspired to realize your own dream, and to help complete the dream of Herzl.
“Collecting the Dream” features photographs by Kevin Viner and portraits by Dana Tal-El.
More information about his book can be found here (for the United States) and here (for Canada).
The HDEC’s current on site travelling exhibition “Israel Then & Now” has been extended until March 31, 2021. For more information please click here.
One of the amazing artifacts in this exhibition is a postcard signed by Theodor Herzl, 1903, on loan from The David Matlow Herzl and Zionism Collection, Toronto, Ontario. The postcard was sent from Basel, Switzerland, in 1903 after the 6th Zionist Congress, and showcases an image of Theodor Herzl and Jewish National Fund stamps. It was signed by Theodor Herzl and other prominent Zionists, including Max Nordau, Israel Zangwill, Oskar Marmorek, Jacob De Haas, Max Bodenheimer and David Wolffsohn.
