In commemoration of Yom HaShoah, Dr. Judith S. Tellerman, the sister of our Holocaust Documentation & Education Center, Inc. (HDEC) Board Member Deborah Tellerman Berkowitz, Esq., was interviewed by radio station 1640 WJPR.
Judith and Deborah are Second generation, along with their sister Dr. Barbara Tellerman. Their beloved parents, Carol and Morris Tellerman z”l were Holocaust Survivors and long-time volunteers of the HDEC. Carol Tellerman spent over a decade, 3 times a week at the HDEC as a volunteer editing transcripts of the Polish Survivors testimonies. Morris Tellerman, Carol’s husband, was a Liberator of Majdanek Concentration Camp, saved Carol’s life during the Holocaust and joined her in volunteering at the HDEC and all Student Awareness programs, which they both loved attending.
The interview concludes with Carol Tellerman z”l singing the very famous Anthem, Ghetto, at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) in 1998 at the USHMM at the invitation of Miles Lerman, a Survivor of the Holocaust, then Chairman of the USHMM in Washington, D.C. She was a guest at the Ceremony honoring her cousin, Arthur (Szmul) Zygielbaum with the highest Medal of Honor of Poland posthumously, when his final letter as a Representative of the Polish Government and Leader of the Warsaw Ghetto Underground was installed at the USHMM.
