Digital Archivist
Description
The Holocaust Documentation and Education Center of Dania Beach is seeking full-time Digital Archivist to work on organizing, cataloging, storing, preserving, and accessing the archival and artifact collections of the center. This position will lead the continuing development of the Archives’ digital program, employing professional standards to establish and implement policies and procedures for the management of born-digital and digitized materials. The Digital Archivist will keep abreast of digital preservation trends and developments and share that knowledge with the wider community. Activities may take the form of training other employees and stakeholders on best practices, use of tools, systems, standards, and processes related to digital preservation.
Responsibilities
- Oversee digitization of in-house collections
- Perform quality control of digitized materials and metadata records to ensure basic standards are met
- Analyze collections of digital records to determine intellectual order, and conduct historical research on source materials in preparation for the creation of metadata templates

- Correctly apply metadata schemas, and develop collection level metadata creation guidelines when needed
- Assist in the development of web archives and local centralized database
Requirements:
– B.A. in History (or equivalent field i.e. Humanities and Cultural Studies), preferably with a focus on Modern European themes
– Prior professional experience or internship in museum institutions or academic research centers
– Proved experience in 2D and 3D digitization of archival and artefact collections
– Office automation skills
Preferred skills:
Digital image processing, structure light 3D scanning, digital photogrammetry, 3D data processing, video editing, social media management, digital communication of cultural heritage
